Care They Need. Love They Deserve.

Pets. People. Place.

For over 100 years, Humane Animal Rescue has worked tirelessly with unwavering commitment to the welfare of animals, pet owners, and our communities. During this unprecedented and historic time, we will continue to be here.

We are all doing our part to practice social distancing to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and we, like you, are experiencing anxiety, stress, and loneliness. Our children are home from school and away from their teachers and friends, our seniors are isolated in nursing facilities, and thousands of our neighbors are home or furloughed from their jobs. It’s during these difficult times that we celebrate and truly appreciate the unique comfort, companionship, and unconditional love that our animals give to us. In a time like this, our pets are vitally important to our lives and to our emotional and physical well-being.

Many of our staff continue to work on the frontlines at our two domestic shelters and Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Our veterinarians and technicians are providing medical care for domestic pets and injured wildlife, shelter staff are caring for the homeless animals in our care, and, our volunteers and fosters are giving our animals extra love. Additionally, we are bolstering Ellie’s Pet Pantry, which provides free pet food to help those in our community who are experiencing financial insecurity.

Our mission will always remain the same. Caring for animals, inspiring communities. We are here for you. Our ability to provide essential care to the most vulnerable animals, regardless of the environment around us, is dependent on your support, which is needed now more than ever. We have experienced a significant drop in income from our Adoption Department and Veterinary Medical Centers and have cancelled numerous fundraising events. As an organization that depends on your generosity to feed and care for thousands of animals, we are deeply worried about how this will affect the pets and people who depend on us. Please donate online today, call (412) 345-0344, or mail your gift to Humane Animal Rescue, 6926 Hamilton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15208.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and, most importantly, the animals in our care, we all send our very best wishes for the safety and good health of you and your loved ones.

Gratefully,

Dan
