Dog Obedience Training

To love your dog is to learn with your dog! Obedience classes and programs at Humane Animal Rescue are uniquely designed for all of your dog’s training needs. Our team is comprised of some of the city’s most knowledgeable canine trainers. Our positive, reward-based training methods will help to bring out the best in your dog all while strengthening the human-canine bond!

Basic Obedience

Start with the basics! The basic level courses are the foundation for obedience and help to build a strong bond between you and your dog. Classes will teach the basics of obedience such as sit, down, leave it, loose leash walking, and so much more! Puppy Manners includes off-leash socialization as a part of class! All basic obedience courses meet for one hour, each week, for 7 weeks.

Intermediate Obedience

Continue training to develop new skills and strengthen skills from the basic level courses. Intermediate level 2 courses turn loose lead walking into heeling, extends stays, strengthens recalls, practices politely greeting strangers, and much more! All intermediate obedience courses meet for one hour, each week, for 6 weeks. Dogs and their owners attend all 6 classes together.

Advanced Obedience

Advanced obedience class and certification prep classes are for students that have completed a basic level and an intermediate level obedience course and want to continue to build on those skills. These classes build your pup’s confidence and prepares them to take CGC or TDI certification tests.

Class Refund and Rescheduling Policy

If class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, students will be notified. Students may reschedule or request a refund.
Notice of cancellation by a student must be done no later than five (5) days prior to the class in order for a refund to be issued. A $15.00 processing fee will be deducted from all refunds.
Notice of rescheduling class by a student must be done no later than five (5) days prior to the class. One requested reschedule is permitted per dog. Any additional requests require full payment of a class. No refund will be granted for obedience training classes included in our adoption package.

Inclement Weather

For inclement weather cancellations, students will be notified via email.

Vaccination Requirements

All adult dogs must be up to date on both distemper (DHPP/DHLPP) and rabies vaccines. Puppies are required to have age appropriate vaccinations based on veterinarian recommendation. Bordatella is highly recommended. We require proof of current vaccinations to be presented to your trainer at the orientation session. Please contact your veterinarian for proof of vaccinations or our Veterinary Medical Center for medical advice .
