Humane Animal Rescue is proud to partner with the Girl Scouts of Western PA to offer scouts of all ages the opportunity to earn animal-related badges. For more information, please see the descriptions below or contact education@animalrescue.org.

In addition, scouts can obtain their bronze, silver, or gold awards by performing sustainable projects that benefit Humane Animal Rescue. Click here for more information on community service projects.

Pets Badge (Brownie Scouts)

Do you know a group of Girl Scouts looking to earn their “Pets” badge? Bring them down to our East End shelter for Vets and Pets class. Brownies will get a unique experience while learning all about how to keep pets happy and healthy. The class includes a tour of one of our shelters as well as activities and lessons to complete all of the requirements of the Brownie “Pets” badge as of the 2015 Girl Scout Handbook. This class lasts about 90 minutes and is suggested for Brownie aged girls (7-10 years of age).

Program Cost: $100 for 10 girls. Additional girls $8 each. 2 adults included in price.


Animal Habitats Badge (Junior Scouts)

Are you a Junior Girl Scout looking to earn your “Animal Habitats” badge? Come on down to Humane Animal Rescue’s Wildlife Center to gain a rewarding experience learning about wild animals and their habitats that surround us, and steps towards conservation. This class includes activities to complete all of the requirements of the Junior Scouts “Animal Habitats” badge as laid out in the 2015 Girl Scout Handbook. We will provide all of the necessary materials for research and completion of each step; all you need is yourself! This class lasts roughly 3 hours, or can be broken into two sessions. It is suggested for Junior Scout-aged girls (8-12 years of age).

Program Cost: $175 for 10 girls (you may have a smaller group, but will still be responsible for the same fee as 10 participants). Additional girls $15 each. 2 adults included in price.


Animal Helpers Badge (Cadette Scouts)

Are you a Cadette Girl Scout looking to earn your “Animal Helpers” badge? Head to Humane Animal Rescue’s East End facility to gain a rewarding experience learning about how animals have evolved to assist humans, and awareness you can bring towards these Animal Helpers. This class includes activities to complete all of the requirements of the Cadette Scouts “Animal Helpers” badge as laid out in the 2015 Girl Scout Handbook. We will provide all of the necessary materials for research and completion of each step; all you need is yourself! This class lasts roughly 3 hours, or can be broken into two sessions. It is suggested for Cadette Scout-aged girls (12-14 years of age).

Program Cost: $175 for 10 girls (you may have a smaller group, but will still be responsible for the same fee as 10 participants). Additional girls $15 each. 2 adults included in price.


Voice for Animals Badge (Senior Scouts)

Do you know a group of Senior Girl Scouts looking to earn their “Voice for Animals” badge? Send them to Humane Animal Rescue to gain a rewarding experience while learning about important, worldwide animal concerns. The class includes activities to complete all of the requirements of the Senior Scouts “Voice for Animals” badge as laid out in the 2015 Girl Scout Handbook. We will provide all of the necessary materials for research and completion of each step. This class lasts about 2 ½ to 3 hours, or can be broken into two sessions. It is suggested for Senior Scout-aged girls (14-16 years of age).

Program Cost: $175 for 10 girls (you may have a smaller group, but will still be responsible for the same fee as 10 participants). Additional girls $15 each. 2 adults included in price.
