Humane Animal Rescue is proud to partner with the Girl Scouts of Western PA to offer scouts of all ages the opportunity to earn animal-related badges. For more information, please see the descriptions below or contact education@animalrescue.org.

In addition, scouts can obtain their bronze, silver, or gold awards by performing sustainable projects that benefit Humane Animal Rescue. Click here for more information on community service projects.

Outdoor Art Maker Badge (Daisy Scouts)

Are you looking for a fun, alternative way to help your Daisy Troop earn some badges? Check out Humane Animal Rescue’s Wildlife Center and earn an Outdoor Art Maker badge! We will seek artistic inspiration by observing nature and scouts will even get the chance to meet a wild animal guest! This class lasts about 1 hour and is suggested for Daisy aged girls (5-7 years old).

Program Cost is $80 and includes up to 10 girls and 2 adults. Additional girls $8 each and additional adults are $2 each. Badges are not included. Program hosted at Humane Animal Rescue’s Wildlife Center.


Pets Badge (Brownie Scouts)

Do you know a group of Girl Scouts who are looking to earn their Pets badge? Join us for a fun, hands on lesson all about Pets! Brownies will get a unique experience while learning all about how to keep pets happy and healthy. The class includes a tour of one of our shelters as well as activities and lessons to complete all of the requirements of the Brownie “Pets” badge. Scouts will even get a chance to meet a few animal guests! This class lasts about 2 hours and is suggested for Brownie aged girls (7-10 years old).

Program Cost is $100 and includes up to 10 girls and 2 adults. Additional girls are $8 each and additional adults are $2 each. Badges are not included. Program hosted at either of Humane Animal Rescue’s Domestic Shelters.


Bugs Badge (Brownie Badge)

Crawling, fluttering, and buzzing! Brownie scouts can complete all requirements for their Bugs badge during this fun-filled class. Attendees will learn all about the insects that live around us and how important they are! This lesson includes fun insect themed crafts and a visit with an animal guest! Through this lesson, scouts will complete all of the requirements of the Junior Scouts “Bugs” badge. The class lasts about 90 min and is suggested for Brownie aged girls (7-10 years old).

Program Cost is $100 and includes up to 10 girls and 2 adults. Additional girls $8 each and additional adults are $2 each. Badges are not included. Program hosted at Humane Animal Rescue’s Wildlife Center.


Animal Habitats Badge (Junior Scouts)

Is your Junior Girl Scout troop looking to earn their Animal Habitats badge? Come on down to Humane Animal Rescue’s Wildlife Center to gain a rewarding experience learning about wild animals and their habitats that surround us! Scouts will even get the chance to meet an animal guest! This class includes activities to complete all of the requirements of the Junior Scouts “Animal Habitats” badge. We will provide all of the necessary materials for research and completion of each step; all you need is yourself! This class lasts roughly 3 hours and includes a break for snacks. It is suggested for Junior Scout-aged girls (8-12 years old).

Program Cost is $175 and includes up to 10 girls and 2 adults. Additional girls $15 each and additional adults are $2 each. Badges are not included. Program hosted at Humane Animal Rescue’s Wildlife Center.


Animal Helpers Badge (Cadette Scouts)

Do you have a Cadette Troop looking to earn their Animal Helpers badge? Head to Humane Animal Rescue to gain a rewarding experience learning about how animals assist humans and how our relationship with animals has changed over time. This class includes activities to complete all of the requirements of the Cadette Scouts “Animal Helpers” badge. We will provide all of the necessary materials for research and completion of each step; all you need is yourself! This class lasts roughly 3 hours and includes a break for snacks. It is suggested for Cadette Scout-aged girls (12-14 years old).

Program Cost is $175 and includes up to 10 girls and 2 adults. Additional girls $15 each and additional adults are $2 each. Badges are not included. Program hosted at either Humane Animal Rescue’s Domestic Shelters.


Night Owl (Cadette Badge)

Do you have a Cadette Troop looking to earn their Night Owl Badge? Join us at Humane Animal Rescue’s Wildlife Center where Cadette scouts can explore our campus during the evening hours to see how the world changes when the sun goes down. Meet a nocturnal animal while learning about what makes these kinds of animals so unique. Come join us for a night filled with fun, learning, and exploration! This class includes activities to complete all of the requirements of the Cadette Scouts “Animal Helpers” badge. This class lasts roughly 2 ½ hours. It is suggested for Cadette Scout-aged girls (12-14 years old).

Program Cost is $175 and includes up to 10 girls and 2 adults. Additional girls $15 each and additional adults are $2 each. Badge are not included. Program hosted at Humane Animal Rescue’s Wildlife Center.


Voice for Animals Badge (Senior Scouts)

Do you know a group of Senior Girl Scouts looking to earn their “Voice for Animals” badge? Send them to Humane Animal Rescue to gain a rewarding experience while learning about important, worldwide animal concerns. The class includes activities to complete all of the requirements of the Senior Scouts “Voice for Animals” badge. We will provide all of the necessary materials for research and completion of each step. This class lasts about 2 ½ to 3 hours, or can be broken into two sessions. It is suggested for Senior Scout-aged girls (14-16 years of age).

Program Cost is $175 and includes up to 10 girls and 2 adults. Additional girls $15 each and additional adults are $2 each. Badges are not included. Program hosted at Humane Animal Rescue’s Wildlife Center or either of our shelter locations.
