COVID-19 & Your Pets: FAQs

It is crucial for us to continue our life-saving efforts amidst the spread of COVID-19, but we also must take preventative measures to protect the public, our staff, & volunteers. Read below to find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. Didn’t find what you were looking for? Give us a call at 412.345.7300!

Yes! Because of the recent order signed by the PA Secretary of Health, everyone must must wear a mask when visiting our facilities.

Due to the ongoing rise in COVID-19 cases in Allegheny County, and for the safety of our guests and staff, we’ve implemented following changes  at our Veterinary Medical Centers.

  • Appointments will remain curbside-only
  • We will not be accepting new patients so that we can best meet the needs of our current ones. Exceptions will be made for animals adopted from us within the past 60 days.

Existing patients will still be seen for:

  • Sick/urgent appointments
  • Pre-surgical appointments
  • Booster vaccines for our patients who have already started puppy/kitten vaccinations (to remain on schedule)

We’re all in this together.  Thank you for your cooperation and patience with our Veterinary team during these trying times.

Please call one of our Veterinary Medical Centers to request an appointment! We are scheduling appointments for urgent visits, and are now open 7 days a week!

We are proud to offer an alternate solution for pets in need during this pandemic. In the event an owner is ill and unable to care for their pet due to COVID-19, we will offer emergency boarding for 14 days. We are able to accept both dogs and cats into this program. We will need proof of vaccines (if you cannot provide records, we will vaccinate your pet when they arrive), and pets will need to be temporarily surrendered into our care. Please call our Pet Helpline at 412.345.0348 for more information.

Please note: Space is limited and is meant for pets with no other options.

Recent policies surrounding the spread of the virus have a large impact on local businesses like ours. If you’re able, please consider making a financial contribution or donating an item on our wishlist to help minimize the burden on our animals, staff, & volunteers.
