Our East End Clinic hosted a free 24 hour Spay-A-Thon dubbed “Operation Snip & Tip” for local community cats on Oct. 14-15, 2019. Beginning at 6 a.m. on Oct. 14, 70 veterinarians and volunteers representing animal welfare organizations from across the region teamed up with Humane Animal Rescue staff to provide spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations to community cats at no cost to their caretakers.
We held our first Spay-A-Thon in 2018, where 214 cats were spayed/neutered. Within two days of scheduling for this year’s event, “Operation Snip & Tip,” 300+ cats had been registered. Our goal this year was to spay and neuter at least 240 community cats in 24 hours…and we beat it! We completed 304 surgeries in this year’s Spay-A-Thon!
