Your Adoption Helps Rehabilitate Our Native Animals

Sponsor an education ambassador!

Although animals are admitted to the wildlife center with the goal of releasing them back into their native habitats as healthy individuals, Humane Animal Rescue’s Wildlife Center is home to a number of education ambassadors. Some of our ambassadors are birds with wing injuries that couldn’t be repaired, some have developmental disorders, or have been permanently injured due to encounters with humans. Luckily, these animals can spend the rest of their lives with us, receiving the enrichment and care they need to live full, happy lives. Many of them are active foster parents to orphaned young that come to our wildlife center – preparing the babies for life in the wild. Plus, they play an important role in educating public on important issues like living with wildlife and protecting our environment!

  • $1,500 will provide annual care for one of our education birds, snakes, turtles, skunk, opossum, bat, squirrel, or rabbit.
  • $3,000 will provide a year’s worth of care for Irwin, our resident porcupine with food allergies
  • $3,000 will provide annual care for Captain, Jack, and Davey – three silver foxes that were purchased illegally as pets and surrendered to our shelter

Sponsor a wild animal!

You can also sponsor a wild animal. We are the only shelter in Western Pennsylvania to accept wild and domestic animals. Rehabilitating and releasing injured native wildlife helps to keep our ecosystem in the best shape possible.

$50 will care for a bird for one week:

  • Owl (barred, short-eared, great horned, eastern screech)
  • Red-tailed hawk
  • American crow

$100 will care for a mammal for one week:

  • Eastern Grey Squirrel
  • Red Fox

Each sponsorship includes a personalized email with an example of the animal you’ve chosen to sponsor (please specify during donation). Sponsorships of $50 per month (or more), or one time sponsorships of $250 or more include a personalized tour with an opportunity to see your sponsorship in action!

If you are purchasing a sponsorship as a gift, please contact our development department for a certificate or card. If you have any questions, reach out to khaase@humaneanimalrescue.org.
