Your Sponsorship Helps Animals in Need

You can’t adopt every animal who pulls on your heartstrings, but you can help with the adoption of a homeless pet who needs you. With our Adoption Sponsorship Program, your donation will directly support a homeless pet waiting to be adopted.

The animal care team will choose a pet who will benefit the most by having their adoption fee underwritten. Typically, they are animals who are older and/or have a medical condition that has caused them to be overlooked and made their stay at our shelter longer than usual. However, if there is a particular pet you are drawn to, please add a message for our team.

A dog can be sponsored for $200.00; a cat can be sponsored for $100.00; a rabbit can be sponsored for $90.00. Sponsors will get a personalized email about the animal they are sponsoring.  They will also get an email with a photograph of their sponsored animal leaving the shelter with its new family.

Sponsor a Shelter Animal

Did you know that the first week of care for animals in our shelters can cost us $250.00 or more? Did you also know that we receive over 12,000 animals every single year? We often accept animals that have been turned away from other shelters because their care would be too costly or complicated. Although this puts a financial burden on Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, the effort is worth it. You can help us provide the medical care, food, and shelter these animals need while they wait for their forever home.

Sponsor a Pittsburgh Pittie

At Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, about 60% of our dogs are pit bull type mixes. Sadly, these precious pooches are turned away from other shelters because they have a bad reputation. HAR is proud of our pitties and we know they can make great pets – just like any breed of dog! You can sponsor a pitbull from intake to adoption for $200. This will provide the pitbull with a spay/neuter, proper vaccines, microchip, food, enrichment, and some basic training while they’re waiting for the new forever home.

Sponsor a Community Cat

A community cat is primarily wild-raised or has adapted to community life. This is not a stray cat. A stray cat is defined as someone’s pet who has become lost, or who has been abandoned. Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh offers Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) services at our Northside and East End clinics. TNR is the method of humanely trapping community cats, having them spayed or neutered and vaccinated against rabies, and then returning them to their colony to live out their lives. TNR has been shown to be the least costly and the most humane, efficient way of stabilizing community cat populations. Cover the cost of one community cat’s Trap, Neuter, and Return for $100.
